Stash it Sunday ~ Week 35

How cute is the Gracious Button Tree Lane by Anni Downs!!! I LOVE this collection and for sure want this on my Christmas list. I would make a craft bag out of this collection for sure. Even an apron would look cute with this collection. I am very much an earth tone type girl and this is just so me. I think I will definitely be picking this one up even if its after Christmas lol. 

Check out Snug This 'N That by Nancy Halvorsen. I love the brightness of this collection. It just screams summer to me. This is another one that I would love under my tree this week.  I would love to make a beach blanket with this collection. The prints are so simple and whimsical but I just cant get over how much I love the color combos.

I Love the Collection Season's Elegance by Studio E. I think its a very elegant collection that would look great as a table topper or even a beautiful Christmas quilt to sit by the fire with. Stash it Sunday Week 30

Well I can honestly say that I officially miss fall. It is starting to get cold up here in Wisconsin. I do have to admit I am a bit of a baby when it comes to being cold. Once it starts getting cold I do this sort of nesting thing around the house and I get all my crafting stuff ready for a long crafty hibernation. This last week I sorted through all my fabric and pulled out everything that I would like to work with this season. Do you do anything like that?

Here is to another beautiful fall week!

 We had some amazing weather almost all week this week. I also was able to catch up on a lot of work and get some new buttons added to the shop this week. However today is Sunday and I have some awesome collections to share with you today for Stash it Sunday.

I can't even explain to you in words how much I LOVE this collection. The Melissa Corry's Bloggers Choice Collection is honestly one of the most beautiful collections of fabric put together in my life. The colors, patterns, its just stunning. I would love yards of this collection to re decorate my entire bedroom in. I would do a ceiling to floor makeover using everything in this bundle of fabric. Even the hubby like it and we all know that is a bonus. haha.  

  

For the bargain of the week collection I picked out Lipstick Play Date by Dear Stella. This 9 fat quarters collection is $16.50 regularly 27.50.  This collection would be great for any little girl.

Stash It Sunday ~ Week 6

Welcome to Stash it Sunday

Ever since my Husband and I met, camping and fishing,  has always been a staple in our relationship. This week we bought our first pop-up camper. I don't think we have ever been so excited for spring to come. So for this weeks Stash it Sunday, it was only fitting that I showed you one of my favorite "camping themed collections". I really do think it's fitting for the occasion. Lets welcome Julie with....

It this not one of the most adorable collections for any camping lover out there?!? This collection is called "Roughing it" by Laurie Wisbrun. You can find it in either Nature or Retro. I personally love the "Nature" colorway. 

There are so many cute things that you can make with this collection. You could make matching pajama bottoms for the whole family to wear while sitting around the campfire, or even make a lovely quilt to cuddle up with while you are sleeping in your camper or tent. 

I think this is a must have for any outdoor camping family. I am a big fan of Julie's I think she has great taste in the collections she picks out for her shop. Stash it Sunday ~ Week 5

Yup its that time of the week. Stash it Sunday. We have been doing these segments for a month now and I am in online heaven by all the amazing collections I have seen while searching for my favorites to share with all of you. Over the past month I have picked up a total of 9 yards of fabric. Most of which was on sale but 9 yards is a great add into any stash. Most of the fabric picked up last month was for the 2 Dr Seuss quilts that I am making.

Anyway February is a new month so lets see what awesome collections I can find. For Starters I stopped back by one of my favorite shops, Sky Reve Fabrics. Natasha has some incredible taste when picking out collections for her shop.

I would also like to add that she not only sells fabric but she has some amazing deals on patterns as well. So I love things with rainbows on them. Not so much with things that are blown out entirely in the rainbow colors. But rainbow accents. Who doesn't smile when they see a rainbow. Keeping that in mind I have to show you this ADORABLE Collection called Raining Rainbows by Anthology Fabrics. 

When I see this collection I see a cute little apron or a skirt for a little girl. You could even use the Raindrops in White, Dots in Grey and the Dot Stripes in Pink for an awesome tote bag for yourself. Really the ideas are endless. I know I would LOVE to get even a couple pieces from this collection.

I love textured style prints. I think it brings out a real balanced look when using them in quilts and table runners. Textured prints in my opinion balance out your character or other print styles. With that in mind I have to show you this Awesome Collection I found over at our lovely sponsors

The other day I stopped  over at their online shop and started looking around. I literally spent hours just paging through all the Amazing Collections. I was just amazed at how many different designers and collections that you can find at the Fat Quarter Shop. You definitely need to stop by if you haven't already. I know I am excited to be getting my first order. 

 I am still keeping in with the Valentine's Day Theme this week and I found another Beautiful Collection  to add to my stash wish list.  I have a few sew able projects that I have in mind that I would like to do for the occasion. How SWEET is this Fat Quarter Bundle Collection......Hug Me by Sue Zipkin is right up my alley in terms of colorways. I am in LOVE with that Aged Scrollwork.  I would also love to see some of that Confetti Hearts fall right on to my cutting table.  

I love the simplicity of this collection. If I were able to add this to my stash I think that I would like to make an Adorable Valentine's Day Banner with it or a Cute Table Runner.

Every week I am going to start posting what I would like to see in my stashes for 2013!! In my world my stashes include many products but as always its all about fabric and yarn on this blog. (HaHa). I have to admit there is a lot more fabric on my stash list then yarn these days. There are just SOOO many Beautiful Collections out there. So I am going to kick things off by taking a visit over to my favorite fabric shop

Skye Reve Fabrics!!!

First I would like to say if you haven't shopped here you MUST Stop by her online store. Natasha ALWAYS has in my opinion BEST collections! I bought my very first online fabric order through her. I had  found some green Grinch material that I am stashing away to make my husband the Grinch quilt that he keeps asking for. I am still on the search for more of that but that is another day. 

With Valentine's Day not to far off I notice that I am a little shy in the red and pinks department in my little stash here so I have been eyeing up this Gorgeous Fat Quarter Bundle of Pink Dot Fabric by Micheal Miller. 

I am a sucker for my dots and simple patterns such as this collection. If I had to pick something to make with this it would definitely have to be a classic style looking apron with a sweet heart cut top.

WIP - Kitchen Play Set

My Latest WIP 

The last of my Christmas orders. 

A few weeks ago a friend of mine approached me and asked me if I could help her with a Christmas project for her young daughter. Of course I jumped at the chance to sew something for a little girl. So last week we went shopping for fabric to match the kitchen set that she was up cycling out of an old entertainment center. I would love to have a little girl to do this with but it was awesome being able to be part of this project none the less.

So last week we went shopping for some fabric and she already had in mind what she wanted. Let me tell you this makes projects so much easier when you know what your customer wants to work with. So she had picked out the zebra fabric for her little girl with a dark purple trim. We had picked out this awesome ruffled ribbon along with a small section of dark purple satin that is being used as an accent on the main piece.


So the first 2 things I finished were the hot pad and oven mitt. I have to admit after they were done I wanted to make a pair for myself. Both the oven mitt and the hot pad are insulated so that she can use it later in life when she is helping mom in the kitchen. 

Next on my list were 2 small curtain panels. Once again for this I used the zebra print and the purple ribbon trim for an accent. As you can see in the picture I am only showing one. I actually just finished the other one while I was writing this and my battery on the camera is charging. I will make sure to show a finished photo with both panels. 

Last on my list is an apron. I am so excited about this. It is my first real garment type project. Like I said I will be sure to post final pictures of the entire project after it's completion. For the entire project I decided to create all my own patterns to cut the fabric out from. Keeping in mind that I just started sewing this year, I think that I have shown a bit of improvement over this past year. 

I am hoping to have the hot pad, oven mitt, and apron set on sale in my ETSY Shop my mid 2013. I would love to hear your thoughts on this project.

Leap Pad Wall Hanging Tote Bag

This year Good old St. Nick brought our little one a leapfrog Leap pad. This past summer I had won a $40.00 Gift Certificate to Sew Fresh Fabrics from a giveaway sponsored by Plum and June. I used my Certificate to purchase a half yard of 123-abc-by-alexander-henry, a half yard bundle of Woodlands Inspired Kona Bundle, and a charm pack of Lucy's Crab Shack by Sweetwater for Moda
that I will use for a separate project. 

So I wanted to share what I made with the abc fabric and some of the Kona. I wanted something to help keep his new toy organized and off the floor. For the most part when I sew I never have a pattern or a template I just make it up as I go along.


 I knew that I wanted some sort of close able pocket. I had never sewn in a zipper before so I took a piece of scrap fabric I had laying around and practiced first. I actually like the little pencil bag I mad so much that I stuffed some new crayons in it and used it as a stocking stuffer. 

Once again I was able to use my new bias tape maker for the cartridge holder. 





 Then I just used some buttons as some extra embellishments.



















I was so happy to have had a chance to make something like this for our little guy. I hope you all have a great holiday season.

Tetris Quilted Square Week 1

This was the first week in the Tetris Quilt-A-Long over at Happy Quilting. Melissa's Quilt-A-Long Theme is what inspired the Tetris Crochet-A-Long that we are doing each week right here at Smalltown Dreamz. This is a first for me in both the Quilt and Crochet-A-Longs. I am so excited to see both when they are finished. The game Tetris was a classic for both me and my Husband.

Saturday Summertime Highlights #2

  Kicking off our 2nd week of Summer Highlights is

 The Kukla Dolls Quilt

The summer sun has shined down onto this beautiful quilt just in time to kick off summer. This piece just screamed summer when I first saw this quilt last week. 

 The bright oranges and yellow's, accented with a beautiful hue of blue just brings out the gorgeous summer colors and not to mention that the little Kukla Dolls are just so darn cute. 

 

This quilt also features a full panel of that lovely blue love bird print on the back panel

Sarah from Sarah Sews Quilting Blog was so kind to let us feature this stunning quilt. Last week when I was doing my daily link ups I came across Sarah's Blog and immediately became a follower. Sarah definitely has some talent when it comes to color combos and piecing things together to become a work of art.  

I wanted to make another cot sized quilt that was a complete departure from the usual colors I would go for (ie. girly pink, florals, blues, purples etc.) and so it was a nice change and a lot of fun using such vibrant colors.  I loved doing the bright orange hand quilting too.  Yes, I hand quilted the whole thing with diagonal lines; I must have too much time on my hands!  But I really like the effect so I think it was worth the time investment.
