I love the look of fresh colors along with modern prints and textures. I thought the Ashley Newcomb's Blogger Choice Bundle expressed everything I love. Those greens and blue are so relaxing. Guest Blogger ~ HodgePodge Crochet!!!!

Today we have a special treat for you!!! We have a friend of mine and an amazing talented woman. Tanya from HodgePodge Crochet!!! When I first started REALLY following other crochet sites on Facebook, she was one of the first pages I started to follow. I have loved her work since day one. I was so pleased when she asked if I wanted to do a guest blogger swap I was doing my happy dance. So with out further ado I would like to introduce..............

My name is Tanya and I began crocheting as a young child. I never really had a passion for it but I would marvel over the freehand dolls my mother would create every Christmas, seemingly out of thin air. She didn’t follow a pattern or know what the stitches she used were called. She simply did what she loved and every year I delighted as the small army of dolls she crafted made their way out of our house and into the arms of her eager customers!

These days, her crochet style would be considered freeform by die-hards of the craft and I’m proud to say that HodgePodge Crochet (http://hodgepodgecrochet.wordpress.com) was born out of that organic beginning.

Over the years, I’ve spent a lot of time learning and mastering new techniques and building upon my own hodgepodge style to come up with something that represents the crocheter I’ve become. I feel that my style is reflected in every stitch of the patterns I put out. HodgePodge Crochet has become my passion—it defines my very lifestyle—and I mean that quite literally. My blog embodies that journey, and the response from those who read it, or come in to find something new, is what inspires me to write the next amazing pattern.

Ever since I started crocheting, I’ve been drawn to overly textured looks. You can see examples of that with my Diamond Mermaid Cocoon (http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/crocheting/other/diamond-mermaid-cocoon-photo-prop/13240

or my Ari Wrap Wristers (http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/crocheting/accessory/ari-wrap-wristers/64129). I love the way the light and shadows play on the surface of a beautifully textured crochet piece.

So it seems fitting that I’d do a tutorial on one of my favorites, the tunisian treble crochet stitch.

HOW TO WORK TUNISIAN TREBLE CROCHET

Ttc: Tunisian treble crochet: Forward: Yarn over twice, insert hook—from right to left—into front vertical bar of next st, yarn over and pull up a loop through st, [yarn over and pull through 2 loops] twice, leaving last loop on hook.

Return: Yarn over, pull through 1 loop on hook, *yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook, repeat from * to end.

If you’d like to work a fun neck cuff project with this stitch, head on over to HodgePodge Crochet (http://hodgepodgecrochet.wordpress.com/2013/11/05/ripple-stitch-nuff/) for a FREE pattern!

Check out my guest blogger spot over at HodgePodge Crochet!!!

I shared all my clay coloring tips. You won't want to miss it!!

Stash it Sunday Week 30

Well I can honestly say that I officially miss fall. It is starting to get cold up here in Wisconsin. I do have to admit I am a bit of a baby when it comes to being cold. Once it starts getting cold I do this sort of nesting thing around the house and I get all my crafting stuff ready for a long crafty hibernation. This last week I sorted through all my fabric and pulled out everything that I would like to work with this season. Do you do anything like that?

Well this week we stopped by our Lovely sponsor and found a couple great collections to share with you.

Fat Quarter Shop

So we all know that Christmas is really just around the corner. Many of us have started pulling out our Christmas fabric and starting those holiday sewing projects. Here is one collection that is a must have. The Bows All Wrapped Up Collection by Maywood Studios is so yummy!! I think this would make an amazing table topper or even some fabulous place mats. I would love to add this collection to my stash for sure. The traces of blue are a great way to set off all the greens and reds.

MEGA Pattern Release!!!!

Picture
The Mad Mad Makers have almost THIRTY patterns collected here for you this week! Including one from Smalltown Dreamz! You can find my newest released pattern. The Holiday Tree Double Pattern Pack. Most of the patterns in the Mega Release are BRAND NEW, with a few updated favorites included.

A couple months ago, several of the Mad Mad Makers decided it would be awesomely fun to all release new patterns on the same day and then see how many spots on the Craftsy Leaderboard we could take over. We had a blast! Craftsy recently changed the look of their leader board, and you can't see at a glance who the designer is now, so it might not be as much fun this time around, but we're going to do it again anyway!

We've got quite the collection of wonderful patterns here for you, I do believe there is something for everyone here. Enjoy!

Stash it Sunday ~ Week 29

So something you should know about me I am not one for surprises or at least had not been until the past couple years. Now I have a new found appriciation for them. A couple weeks ago I put in an order for some fabrics and I was just so torn I could not decide. I was drooling over all the beautiful collections that our wonderful sponsors have over at the

I just so happen to be surfing through their sales when I saw the Mystery Fat Quarter bundles on sale. I thought about it really hard and decided to go for it. So I purchased two of them. I have to admit I was dying of anticipation the entire time it was in the mail. But I tell you what when the ups man rang my door bell I don't think I have ever been so excited.

The first fat quarter bundle that I opened was part of the Christmas Countdown Collection by Deb Strain. at the point my mouth was watering. I was just so in love with what I got. To me it was perfect!! I think it will make for a great quilted table center piece.

My 2nd mystery Fat quarter bundle I loved just as much. Acacia by Tula Pink was perfect!!! Not only did i love the colors and prints but it was bright and cheerful. I think this collection would make for a great bag

I think I will most definitely be picking up more mystery packs in the future.
If you haven't had the pleasure then make sure you stop in and see all the amazing collections that Fat Quarter Shop has to offer. The site is neatly organized so you can find exactly the style of fabric you are looking for.
